Among the better finance textbooks I've read.

I have gone through numerous finance textbooks and find this to be the most comprehensive and most accessible text on derivatives. I teach an advanced derivatives course (grad and undergrad combined) based on this text. The book is very easy to follow and it is "complete", it is very much to the point and very clear. The book explains to the reader the fascinating world of derivatives and assumes no knowledge of derivatives beforehand. This book is not just an introduction to the subject, it starts by assuming that the reader does not have any background on the subject but it goes quite deeply into all of the instruments. While it is an academic book with a series of questions at the end of each chapter, it is also clearly written by authors with experience in trading derivatives. The chapter on dynamic hedging, and how options can be replicated by trading the underlying instrument is the best explanation on that topic that I have read. The book explains complex topics in plain English that I find really helps students. I would strongly recommend it to someone teaching a University level derivatives class, or to an investor who wishes to learn how derivatives work.
