Useful, Easy-to-understand Tips on Launching a Book

Note: I use the Goodreads rating scale for book reviews, so four stars in my case means "I really liked it".
I picked this book up as a free incentive for signing up to Tim Grahl's mailing list. I saw it advertised in The Creative Penn's newsletter, and I thought that, since I'm planning to launch a new book in a couple of months, I'd check it out.
There are some very useful ideas in here. The author takes you step-by-step through when (and how) to start promoting your book launch to your e-mail list, getting your existing fans to share your book far and wide, and even getting noticed and featured by top influencers in your niche.
I've often felt that e-book pre-orders are only really useful if you're already a big name author, with hundreds of thousands (even millions) of fans. Not so, says Grahl. Pre-orders can be extremely valuable, even to someone with only a couple of hundred fans, if you know how to promote them effectively - which the author explains very clearly how to do.
My only gripe about this book is that it is very short, which in itself isn't a problem, but the author keeps referring back to his previous book, "Your First 1000 Copies". I haven't read that book yet, but sometimes it makes it seem as though this book is just an advertisement for that one.
Whether you're independently or traditionally published, Book Launch Blueprint provides clear, easy-to-understand, step by step instructions for how to launch a best-seller. They're easy to follow, but as the author admits, not so easy to implement. Still, with this book in my hands, I feel much more confident. I actually have a strategy, now. Wish me luck!

Great Read for launching a book

This is a great book for getting down to the nuts and bolts of launching a book. I could have used some of this advice before I launched my book last month, but I still found this book very useful.
First off, it is a very quick read. I was given it as a free download and read it in about an hour.
Grahl is not offering quick schemes, but solid advice on how to build an author platform for the long term, which I appreciate. I love his focus on what we as authors can do for others rather than focus on trying to sell our books. I, for one, don't like to feel pushy, so thinking in terms of being useful and win-win situations really appeals to me.
However, the crux of Grahl's advice came down to one thing: I have to believe that buying my book is a good thing for people to do. As he acknowledges, that can be a tough one for authors -- we want to put our book out there and get on the bestseller lists, but don't want to ask money for it.
The other thing that really spoke to me was his advice to sit down and think about why I wrote my book, who I wrote it for, and why do I want people to read it? Once those questions are answered, marketing a book will, he says, become much easier because I will see how I'm adding value to people's lives.

Tim Grahl may be the Tony Robbins of Self-Publishing

As an author about to self-publish in mid-2016, I have been paying attention to Tim Grahl for the last year. I get his offbeat intriguing emails and watch his how-to-launch-your-book online videos. Just this morning I downloaded "Book Launch Blueprint" and spent 30 minutes skimming it. Here are my first impressions:
• I will return to Tim's eBook many many times during the next several months.
• No matter how good a book writer you are, you'll probably need to learn how to promote your book.
• Tim Grahl's book-launch advice is simple, clear, motivating, and feels powerful.
• His writing is enthusiastic and his text is written like real people talk (i.e., not complex, overblown, wordy BS.)
• I can almost "hear" the voice of Tony Robbins or Dale Carnegie while reading this book.
If you're about to self-publish for the first time—or even if you'll be published by a big house (with stingy promo budgets for most of their authors)—you can benefit by listening to Tim Grahl. Remember: your book will be competing with a million other books. You'll need to promote in a way that lifts your book above the churning tide of other new books, all clamoring for attention. Tim shows you how this can actually be fun.
